weil es leider verboten war während der Vorstellung Fotos zu machen und das Personal regelrecht darauf getrimmt war durch die Gänge zu rasen und jede noch so verdächtige Aktivität mit einem Handy oder einer Kamera sofort zu unterbinden, egal ob man damit andere störte die das Programm sehen wollten, gibt's leider nur 2 bilder. naja, wie dem auch sei, es war super und ich kann es nur empfehlen :)

sorry, but it was forbidden to make any pictures during the show. beside the staff was trained to detect people who even tried to take out their phone or camera. if they found someone they were running like Forest Gump through the rows, not thinking in the other people they could disturb watching the show. anyway, here are 2 small pictures and it was fantastic :)

hier mein kleiner Erfahrungsbericht mit dem neuen TomTom Urban Rider:

Habe das Gerät auf meiner Fahrt nach Frankreich ausgiebig testen können.
Verbingungen zu iPhone via Bluetooth und Interphone F4 Motorrad-Headset funktionieren problemlos. Leider ist die Sprachausgabe für das F4 zu leise, man realisiert aber immer, dass etwas angesagt wird und kann kurz auf's Display schauen. (Hört man mit dem F4 die Musik vom iPhone via Bluetooth, wird diese gestoppt für die Ansagen)
Wichtig: kein Lautsprecher, Ansage nur über Headset möglich!
Die Radarwahnung vor festinstallierten Blitzern funktioniert einwandfrei (auch wenn sie nicht zulässig ist).
Leider ist trotz aktualität des Gerätes das Kartenmaterial nicht immer auf dem neuesten Stand (angezeigte Tankstelle existierte nicht mehr)
Wetterfest ist es auf jeden Fall. Starkregen bei der Heimfahrt, allerdings ist das Display bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung nicht sichtbar.
sehr intelligent ist die Batteriesparfunktion, Display schaltet sich nur an, wenn Richtungshinweis angesagt wird. (10h Fahrt mit 7h in Bewegung und Akku war noch nicht am Ende)
Zur Halterung kann ich leider nichts sagen, da ich MultiPod von Wunderlich benutze (nur zu empfehlen). Die mitgelieferte wäre an meiner BMW R1100S allerdings nicht einfach zu installieren zwecks Platzmangel.
Zum Aufladen gibt's nur USB oder Steckdose, denke aber ich besorg bei TomTom noch Ladekabel zum Anschluss an die Motorradbatterie + activ dock.
Bedienung mit Handschuh möglich, allerdings ist die Eingabe von Orten/Strassennamen erschwert, da die Tasten doch recht dicht beieinander liegen.

und hier ist es, das neue Peugeot 207 cc Cabrio/Coupé meine Mutter :)
fährst sich recht gut (so dass man in der Nacht um 23.30 Uhr mit offenem Verdeck von 3 Polizeibeamten angehalten wird, die wohl zum ersten Mal einen Schweizer Führerausweis sahen und ebenfalls nichts mit meinem Ausländerausweis anfangen konnten). Der alte Micra CC fährt sich im Vergleich spritziger würde ich meinen und hatte definitiv mehr Kofferraumplatz, aber egal, auch Peugeot hat seine Sache gut gemacht.

drives really well (to get stopped by the police at 11.30PM with open roof, and i guess the saw the first time a swiss driving license). the old Micra CC had more space in the trunk and was a bit more lively. anyway, Peugeot did a good job.

nach 12 Stunden fahrt und Ankunft um 4.15 Uhr morgens bin ich bei meinen Eltern angekommen. Viel zu tun gibt's trotzdem für die Arbeit. Home office ist der neue, prägende Begriff ;)

Wie dem auch sei, es ist immer wieder schön die Blumenpracht im Garten zu bewundern

lang lang ist's her, dass ich etwas geschrieben hab. dabei ist mittlerweile sehr viel passiert aber ich geb zu, ich war einfach zu faul hier etwas neues zu schreiben.
also was hab ich so gemacht:
ich war wieder einmal in Rom mit einem Kollegen und 4 Studenten (bereits im März). dort haben wir erneut für das Deutsche Archäologische Institute einige Messungen durchgeführt, welche im Rahmen einer Masterprojektarbeit weiterhin ausgewertet werden. Das Wetter hat zum Glück mitgespielt und so sind wir den doch noch eisigen Temperaturen im März in der Schweiz entkommen gewesen ;)

Danach gab's natürlich genügend im Büro zu tun. Vor allem die Vorbereitung für eine Konferenz in Brüssel vor 2 Wochen. Hab dummerweise die Sonne doch etwas überschätzt und zu wenig warme Klamotten mitgenommen, so dass ich mich ein wenig erkältet hab. Wie dem auch sei, hab mir Brüssel angeschaut, war im Atomium, bei Manneken Piss und bin auch Opfer des Eyjafjallajökull Vulkans auf Island geworden und musste mit dem Zug zurück nach Zürich reisen. 9 Stunden Zugfahrt waren dann auch genug für das ganze Jahr ;) hihi

long time gone since I wrote here the last time but a lot of stuff happened. I'm honest I've been to lazy to write something new.
so what have I done:
went to Rome with a colleague and 4 students in march to do some new measurements for the German Archaeological Institute. the analysis is part of a master project thesis of one of the students. the weather was really nice and so we could escape those freezing temperatures in Zurich ;)

of course after that there was a lot to do in the office. mostly to prepare my presentation for a conference in Bruxelles 2 weeks ago. stupidly I didn't thought about taking some more thick clothing with me because the sunshine was misleading me ;) and so I got a flu. anyway, I checked out Bruxelles, went to the Atomium, visited Manneken Piss and became a victum of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and had to take the train to go back to Zurich. 9 hours driving have been enough for the actual year ;) hihi

3 Wochen lang ging’s nach Brasilien in die Sonne als die Kälte Europe fest im Griff hatte. Im Schnee verliessen wir Zürich und Frankfurt (Oder) und trafen uns in Paris mit der ersten lustigen Begebenheit am Flughafen CDG

for 3 weeks we went to Brazil into sunshine as it was freezing cold in Europe. In the snow we left Zurich and Frankfurt (Oder) and met each other in Paris where we had the first funny thing on CDG airport

Ankunft 5 Uhr morgens in Rio de Janeiro und es war schön warm ☺ wir haben die Zeit einfach nur genossen, und ich kann gar nicht in Worte fassen wie schön dieser Urlaub mit meinem Bruder war. also seht euch einfach ein paar Bilder an und geniesset die Eindrücke.

Arrival 5 AM at Rio de Janeiro and it was nice and warm ☺ we really enjoyed the time and i can’t find words to say how nice this vacations have been with my brother. so checked some pictures and enjoyed our impressions.

allen ein frohes und besinnliches Weihnachtsfest und schöne Festtage. wir haben gestern eine kleine "Weihnachtsparty" mit Backwettbewerb veranstaltet, es war wieder "grittibänz"-zeit. auch dieses jahr bin ich mit meinem Schneemann leider nicht unter die ersten plätze gekommen aber wir hatten trotzdem richtig viel spass. Sieger war der Hummer vor Doppeldecker und Eule. und damit ihr wisst wovon ich spreche hier nun die passenden bilder.

es war wieder soweit, der Polyball stand vor der Tür. als größter ball europäischer universitäten mit seinem vielfältigen programm war eingeladen zum tanzen. wer dies nicht so mag, kann sich auch im kabaret, kino oder an den verschiedenen bars vergnügen :)
nach 8 absagen (9 im letzten jahr) hab ich mit Sandra dann doch noch eine begleitung gefunden, danke auch an dieser stelle noch einmal. letzlich waren wir 3 paare, die sich also auf den weg machten, den abend durchzutanzen. den anfang machte natürlich ein willkommenstrunk und dann ging es aber doch recht zügig auf die vielen verschiedenen tanzflächen mit den unterschiedlichsten musikrichtungen.

here we go again, Polyball 2009. the biggest prom in european universities with his multifaceted program invited everyone to come and dance. those who doesn´t like that had the chance to enter the cabaret, cinema or take a seat at one of the bars :)
after 8 refuses of invitations (9 in the last year) i found in my friend Sandra someone who joins me finally, thanks again! in the end we were 3 couples who took the chance to dance all night long. started with a welcome drink and went for dancing to a lot of different rooms with a lot of different genres of music

zurück von einem kurzurlaub in Bukarest, wo ich meinen bruder besucht hab. war fantastisch aber natürlich wie immer zu kurz wen nman spaß hat. ich hab auch gar nicht viele bilder (um ehrlich zu sein nur eins von mir vor´m Palast) also müßt ihr mir einfach glauben wenn ich sage wir hatten ne tolle zeit. stadtbesichtigung und spaß in der nacht. wir waren karaokesingen und es war fantastisch, die stimmung einfach genial :) wir sangen im duett "I will survive" und danach sind wir noch zum tanzen in ne disco mit extrem lauter musik. mittlerweile geht´s meinen ohren aber wieder gut und ich kann wieder alles hören

back from a weekend trip to visit my brother in Bucharest. was a really cool time, too short of course like always when you have a lot of fun. and like always, i don´t have many pictures (to be honest one of me with the palace). so you just have to believe me that we had a great time. sightseeing and fun at night. we went for Karaoke and it was fantastic and the atmosphere was awesome :) we did a duett with "I will survive" ;) and after that we went for dancing in a really loud disco but i can feel my ears again and hear the sounds around me

ich hab das wochenende seit langem mal wieder in deutschland bei meiner familie gebracht. anlass war der geburtstag meines vaters, der im kleinen familienkreis gefeiert wurde. mein bruder ist ja immer noch in bukarest bis weihnachten und ich werde ihn dort in 2 wochen besuchen. es ist immer wieder schön, wenn man im hotel mama einkehren kann :) es gibt leckeres essen und man ist mit denen vereint, die man am meisten liebt. unserer katze geht´s auch noch super und auch mit meinen freunden konnte ich mich treffen. die flüge von und nach Zürich waren problemlos aber die zeit verging mal wider viel zu schnell.
in dieser woche gibt´s noch eine exkursion mit meinen studenten nach deutschland und ansonsten läuft der normale lehrbetrieb. ist ja auch noch mitten im semester. im nächsten bekomme ich dann offiziell lehrauftrag :)

i spent the weekend with my family in germany. wasn´t there for a long time. it was the birthday of my father and i enjoyed it a lot to be there again. we celebrated just in a small family group because my brother is still in Bucharest, where i´ll visit him in 2 weeks. it´s always nice to come home again to hotel momy :) delicious food and the people you love the most around you. our cat is also still fine and i had also the time to meet some friends. the flights to and from Zurich where easy but the time at home past by too fast again.
for this week an excursion with my students is planed to germany and the rest is the normal working stuff. middle of the semester and with the next i´ll have my own professorship or teaching assignment :)

so, da bin ich wieder. es war eine Woche mit recht viel Arbeit, diese hat sich aber gelohnt und ausgezahlt. Mittwoch ging noch nach Karlsruhe zur INTERGEO (Fachmesse für Vermessung) und somit fehlte dieser Tag doch ein wenig in der Planung. Freitag nämlich fand sie statt, die dritte Nacht der Forschung hier in Zürich, und wir waren dabei von 17 Uhr bis Mitternacht. mit Aufräumen, Material zurück zur ETH bringen, Mietwagen abgeben war ich dann gegen 2Uhr morgens endlich zu Haus und zwar ohne Stimme. bei so vielen Leuten und meist das gleiche erzählen ist irgendwann mal zumindest ein kleiner Halsschmerz da, bevor die Stimme versagt

hello everyone, i had quite a lot to do this week and the weekend is also almost over and even if there was so much to do it was a great week with success :) wednesday my colleagues, students and me went to Karlsruhe/Germany to visit INTERGEO (trade fair for surveyors) and so we "lost" this day for the rest of the week because on friday night there was a research night (Nacht der Forschung) here in Zürich. there were so many people that we talked so much and had no voice anymore at the end. this event started at 5PM until midnight. i arrived at home around 2AM after bringing all the stuff back to the university and the rented car back to the station. but it was great

meinen Samstag hab ich ruhig anfangen lassen, bis ich einen Anruf bekam. dieser hatte mit dem zweiten Teil der Überschrift zu tun. seit gestern bin ich nun stolzer Besitzer eines eigenen :) yeah, hat ne ganze Weile gedauert (2 Wochen warten) aber endlich war es so weit. nach weiteren ca. 40 Minuten im Laden durfte ich endlich an der Kasse bezahlen, nach hause fahren und den lehren Inhalt auffüllen :)

i started my saturday really calm until i got a call. and here we come to the second point in the post description. since yesterday i'm finally a really proud owner of my own :) yeah, it needed quite a long time (2 weeks waiting) and 40 minutes in the store but now it's here. so i came home and could fill out the empty space :)

so so, da sind mal wieder einige tage vergangen und so einiges ist passiert. zum ersten hab ich nachdem Paula wieder abgereist war mein auto verkauft (100 CHF gab's noch)

des weiteren musste ich für meinen letzen versuch der zulassungsprüfung und habe endlich bestanden. ja es war ein kampf für mich, ja eventuell konnte ich mich immer noch nicht richtig reinsteigern aber immerhin war ich jeden tag in der bibliothek zum lernen und hab mir da sogar ein knöllchen für's falschparken meines motorrades eingefangen (120 CHF). ein wahnsinnspreis für ein motorrad, aber was soll man machen ;)

jedenfalls muss ich nun meinen forschungsplan schreiben, sitze an der vorbereitung "meiner" lehrveranstaltung und natürlich noch die anderen sachen am arbeitsplatz :)

hey folks, i know again a lot of days passed by since i wrote the last time but also some things happend here. first i sold my car (at leat i got 100 CHF) after Paula left back to colombia

after that i had my last try of the approval exam to become finally an official PhD student ;) and i passed it. yes i had to fight and yes, maybe i wasn't still really motivated but i went to the public library every day for studying for not getting detracted from studying. during this i got a ticket on my bike for parking in a wrong place (120 CHF) so much for a motobike but what can i do ;)

anyway now i've to write my research plan, prepare the lesson i've to give next semester and do the normal working stuff :)

tach zusammen,
ich bin zurück aus wunderbaren ferien mit meiner freundin. nach einer langen odyssee um ihr visa für den schengenraum hat es dann doch geklappt, dass wir 2 wochen uraub in deutschland und der schweiz verbringen konnten. (an dieser stelle dann noch mal herzlichen dank an die deutsche botschaft in kolumbien)
natürlich standen viele touristenpunkte auf dem programm, aber auch seele-baumeln-lassen und entspannen kam nicht zu kurz :) das wetter spielte eigentlich immer mit, so dass wir auch das kühle nass der limmat genossen haben. in den 2 wochen urlaub hat Paula zumindest keinen kulturschock bekommen und ich hoffe, dass einer erneuten wiederkehr nicht mehr allzuviel im wege steht, wie bei dieser ersten europareise.

i´m back from wonderful vacations with my girlfriend. after a long odyssee for her visa for the schengen-countries we could spent 2 weeks in germany and switzerland together. (thanks again to the german embassy in colombia)
of course we did a lot of touristic stuff but also relaxed and enjoyed the time together :) the weather was quite nice all the time so we also went for swimming in the limmat here in zurich. i think Paula didn´t get shocked by the culture here during these 2 weeks and i hope that her next coming here to europe will be easier.

3 weeks geodetic project course

lang ist's her aber ich konnte mich nun endlich dazu durchringen, hier wieder etwas zu schreiben. nach nun 4 wochen ausserhalb Zürichs, gibt es einige hundert photos von 2 kursen mit studenten. der erste dauerte eine woche und fand im Jura statt. der zweite, bis morgen andauernde erstreckte sich über 3 wochen im Wallis in der nähe von Zermatt.
die gruppe, welche von mir betreut wurde, beschäftigte sich mit verschiedenen messungen an der staumauer am Illsee. dort verbrachten wir eine ganze woche direkt vor ort. in dieser zeit führten "meine" studies alle aufgaben durch und wir hatten auch genügend zeit für freizeit und spass :)
die letzte woche befasst sich nun mit der auswertung aller erhaltenen daten, jedoch gab's gestern einen ausflug zum kleinen matterhorn bei perfektem wetter. die aussicht war also grandios. allerdings muss ich ebenfalls zugeben, dass ich als flachlandeuropäer froh war, dass es eine seilbahn gab, keine ahnung wieviele höhenmeter ich in diesen wochen zurückgelegt habe, aber es waren einige ;) abschliessend kann ich sagen, dass ich ein super messteam betreuen durfte und ich hoffe, dass sie mit meiner betreuung ebenfalls zufrieden waren.

it's been a while but now i finally found the motivation to write something again. after almost 4 weeks of project courses outside the university in zurich we collected lots of pictures. the first course was placed in Jura for one week and today i'm still in Valais in the third week of the second course. we're here in the near of Zermatt. i was the supervisor for a group of students, who made measurements at the dam of the Illsee, were we spent one week. during this time "my" students did their work but we had also time for fun :)
here in the last week there's now the time for analysis and reporting. yesterday we made a short trip to the top of the Klein Matterhorn with perfect weather. the view was gorgeous. i also have to say, that i was happy about the cable car as a flat country european. i don't know how much diffenrece in atitude i walked up and down, but it was a lot ;) in the end i can say, that i had a really good team of students and i hope i supervised them also in the right way.

ich war in "Schland" für die letzte Woche. begonnen mit 'nem traurigen Anlass im Vogtland ging´s dann weiter nach Haus und von da weiter an die Ostsee, genauer Stralsund. Hab dort ein paar schöne Tage mit Franzi verbracht, die mittlerweile wie 'ne Schwester für mich geworden ist. Zum Baden war es leider zu kalt, aber im Hochseilgarten war ich Klettern und mußte doch ein paar "Ängste" überwinden in über 10m Höhe. Wieder zu Haus angekommen wollten wir eigentlich den Pool streichen an Himmelfahrt, jedoch machte uns das Wetter einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Am Freitag war ich zur Hochzeit von Freunden eingeladen und bin dann Samstagnacht, 3 Uhr morgens ins Bett. Um 9 dann wieder raus und endlich Pool streichen, denn das Wetter war fantastisch. Die Sonne lachte und so hatten mein Vater und ich keine Probleme bei der Arbeit (meine Füße sind immer noch blau wie bei 'nem Schlumpf). Einweihen konnte ich ihn dieses Jahr leider noch nicht, da ich am Sonntag weider zurück nach Zürich mußte und 12 Stunden im Auto verbrachte dank mehreren langen Staus. Nun bin ich wieder hier und die Arbeit hat mich wieder. Nächste Woche geht´s dann für einen Monat mit den Studenten auf Feldkurse (eine Woche Jura und dann drei Wochen Wallis)

I went to Germany last week. it started with a sad cause in the Vogtland. From there further to my parents home and for three days to the Baltic Sea more precisely to Stralsund. I spent some nice days there with Franzi, who actually become like a sister for me during the years. It was to cold for swimming but i did climbing in a high ropes course and had to fight some "fear" in 10m height. Back at home we wanted to paint our pool but the weather didn´t allow us. It was raining all day long last thursday. Friday I was invited to the wedding of my friends and came back to my parents home at 3AM. At 9AM my alarm wrenched my from my sleep but the pool was still there waiting for the new blue color. The weather this time was perfect and so my father and me hadn´t any problems (my feet still look like the feet of the smurfs). Unfortunately I had no time to jump into it because I spent 12 houres in the car on sunday to come back to Zürich. now I´m here again and the work has me back for this week. With the next week I´ll be in project courses with the students for the whole June (one week in canton Jura and three weeks in canton Valais)

ich bin zurück von einer woche konferenz in Orlando/Florida, hab die sonne genossen, mir vorträge angehört und einen selbst gehalten und war natürlich auch am und im Meer :) nebenbei hab ich am pool gelegen und gelernt. shoppen war ich auch, wobei sich das auf eine jeans und ein hemd begrenzt hat. während der 7 tage hab ich dann wirklich nur beim warten auf meinen rückflug in philadelphia auf dem flughafen bei McDonalds essen müssen ;) aber genug der worte, hier ein paar bilder

endlich!!! es ist geiles wetter, und zwar so richtig geiles wetter :) die sonne hat ja doch ne ganze weile auf sich warten lassen, aber dafür haut sie gleich richtig rein. 23-25°C sind für April nun doch gleich etwas sehr warm, aber wer wird denn meckern ;) und von "ohhh, achtung die böse klimaerwärmung kommt" will ich im moment nichts wissen!
am wochenende war ich in meiner alten Heimat bei meinen Eltern und auch da war es wunderschön. samstag geht´s auf nach Florida zur Konferenz für eine Woche und ich freu mich, auch wenn meine Präsentation noch nicht wirklich fertig ist, aber das wird schon ;) ja und ansonsten muß ich immer noch lernen für meine prüfung, werd mir den spaß wohl auch mitnehmen und in den freien momenten der konferenz am pool lesen :D

finally!!! the weather is gorgeous, really gorgeous :) was a long time untill the sun "came back" but now she´s here and that´s for sure. 23-25°C is really a lot for April but there´s nothing to whing about ;) and i also don´t want to hear a "ohhh, pay attention of the evil global warming" at the moment!
went to my parents home last weekend and also there the weather was perfect. on saturday i´ll fly to Orlando for one week conference and i´m happy about that, even if my presentation isn´t finished yet, but i´ve still some more days ;) and the rest of the time i´m still studying for my exam, so i´ll take this stuff with me and read it during the breaks of the conference at the pool :D

tach zusammen :) ja, es ist wieder eine weile vergangen. heute vor genau einer woche hatten wir einen skiausflug in unserem Institut. für mich das erste mal in der schweiz auf ski und auch generell kann man fast sagen, dass erste mal. (rückblickend einmal in meiner schulzeit für max. 30 minuten) daher erklärte sich mein kollege David auch bereit, den halben tag mit mir zu verbringen und mir zu zeigen, wie das geht auf diesen brettern. ich habe mich wohl nicht zu dumm angestellt, aber für die blue piste (die in wirklichkeit rot war) hat es nur für 2/3 gereicht, danach war ich wirklich kraft- und lustlos. alles in allem war es trotzdem ein schöner tag!
letzten mittwochabend war ich bei The Killers im hallenstadion in zürich und es war richtig cool. man merkt, live müssen sie noch so einiges lernen aber die stimmung war trotzdem super! :)
auf dem nachhauseweg, hat es mich dann direkt vor allen konzertbesuchern mit dem motorrad auf die fresse gehauen. rechtskurve auf strassenbahnschienen mit verfrühtem beschleunigen bilden eine ungünstige situation. die blauen flecken zeigen sich erst heute, schürfwunde am schienenbein und ein offenes knie hatte ich aber sofort. meiner maschiene geht's auch wieder gut und es ist ja auch endlich wochenende :) zeit zum lernen *würg*

hey folks :) i know, it's been a while. one week ago i went for skiing with my colleagues. the first time for me in switzerland and maybe it's allowed to say the first time at all (not looking for 30 minutes during school time on a trip there) so my colleague David tried to teach my how to survive and i did quite good. but for the blue lane (actually it was red) it was only enough for 2/3, the last third i was powerless and it wasn't fun anymore. but at all it was a nice day!
last wednesday i went to The Killers concert in zurich and it was really cool. i mean you can see that the need some more live experiences but the atmosphere was great! :)
on my way home, directly in front of all concert visitors i had an accident with my bike and made a 360 laying on the road. right corner, rails for tram and a too early accelaration are an awkward combination. the blue marks are visible at least today, but me knee was painful and bloody directly. my bike is ok again and finally it is weekend :) time for studying *Ugh!*

es ist wieder soweit, der märz ist da und die motorradsaison beginnt offiziell :) eigentlich sogar diesen samstag mit einer von BMW organisierten ausfahrt hier im zürcher umland. seit montag hab ich meine R1100S auch wieder bei mir und bin bis mittwoch auch mit ihr gefahren, trotz regen und kühlen temperaturen. nun ist der winter aber wieder zurück mit schnee und temperaturen um die 0°C, so dass ich von hier oben aus dem fenster traurig nach unten schauen muss. mit samstag wird das wohl nichts werden, denn das wetter soll sich bis anfang nächster woche nicht ändern. :(
desweiteren hab ich mein paper für ne konferenz nach ostern in orlando/usa fast fertig und kann dem schon mal beruhig entgegen blicken. etwas kopfzerbrechen macht mir hier nur eine zulassungsprüfung, die ich leider vergeigt habe und noch einmal (das letzte mal) wiederholen muß. bammel hab ich, da ich bei einem erneuten durchfallen mein doktorat vergessen kann :( naja, da muß ich wohl durch, wie heißt es, das leben ist hart aber unfair *hihi*
jedem der hier liest, wünsch ich jedenfalls ein schönes wochenende!

it´s time again, march is back in the motobike season will start officically :) actually, on saturday with an organised trip by BMW here in switzerland. since mondy i´ve my R1100S back and drove her untill wednesday even when there was rain and cold temperatures. but today the winter came back with snow and 0°C. so i´m looking sad out of the window down to my bike. the worst thing is, there will be no weather changing untill beginning of next week so i think they will cancel the trip :(
beside this i almost finished my conference paper for orlando/usa in april and can look forward to it. the bigger problem is one exam i´ve to do again to start with my PhD which i failed the first time. with the next try i really have to pass otherwise i´m finished before i started :(
anyway, i´ve to go through and how is the saying, live is hard but unfair *hihi*

ich weiß es ist wieder eine ganze weile her, als ich mich das letzte mal gemeldet hab. aber in den letzten beiden wochen (immer freitags) hatte ich meine zulassungsprüfungen an der ETH um "ordentlicher" doktorand zu werden.
naja, jedenfalls lief die erste auch richtig super und ich kenn das ergebnis und weiß, dass ich bestanden hab. dann kam die zweite woche, an meinem geburtstag saß ich also auch hier und lernte aber irgendwie bin ich mir über das ergebnis doch recht unsicher. leider gaben sie mir auch keine auskunft direkt nach der prüfung und nun sitze ich hier und weiß nicht mal, wann das ergebnis bekanntgegeben wird. ich hoffe einfach nur, dass ich bestanden hab, die note is mir vollkommen egal!!
anyway, gestern abend hab ich dann mit freunden meinen geburtstag gefeiert. leider kam nur die hälfte von den erwarteten gästen und so sitzen meine mitbewohner und ich immer noch an den belegten broten die ich gemacht hatte ;)
(ich glaub ich kann kein brot mehr sehen für ne weile *hihi*)
jedenfalls geht´s mir gut, auch mit 28 und jetzt freu ich mich auf den hoffentlich nahenden frühling, damit ich endlich wieder motorrad fahren kann :)

i know, long time gone again since my last post. but in the last two weeks (fridays) i had my exams at the university, to become an "real official" doctoral student.
the first one was really good and i got it. then the second week came, and i was studying on my birthday too but at all the exam wasn´t so good. i just hope that i passed it, because i don´t know anything about the grade and also i don´t know when i´ll know something about it. at all the grade isn´t really important, i have to pass it!!!
anyway :) yesterday i had a tiny birthday party with some friends and colleagues, it was really nice but only half of the people came and so my roommates and me are still eating the rest of the food i was preparing ;) (i think i can´t see it anymore for a while *hihi*)
and now i´m looking forward to the hopefully coming spring when i can drive my motobike again :)

seit gestern liegt in Zürich wieder richtig Schnee und zwar soviel, dass gestern morgen meine Busse nicht gefahren sind. also hiess es laufen ;) nach 1 Stunde hatte ich mein Ziel erreicht, weiss wie ein Schneemann und mehr als überrascht, da all meine Kollegen schon da waren. Mir stellte sich die Frage, ob es bei Ihnen nicht geschneit hatte *hihi*
jedenfalls fielen den ganzen Tag immer wieder ein paar Flocken und auch heute war dies so. allerdings scheint es so, als würde es mittlerweile wieder schmelzen, auf vielen Bäumen liegt schon kein Schnee mehr. wie dem auch sei, dieses Wetter verbreitet eindeutig Weihnachtsstimmung, und ich hoffe wirklich, dass es bei meinen Eltern zu Haus wenigstens ein paar Flocken zu Weihnachten geben wird.

since yesterday there is snow again in zurich. and so much snow, that i had to walk to work because no bus was driving ;) after 1 houre i arrived at the university, white like a snowman and surprides that all my colleagues were there. i was asking myself if it wasn´t snowing at there home *hihi*
anyway, it was snowing all day long and also today. but it looks like it´s melting again, a lot of trees are without snow again. but this weather is perfect for christmas and i´m hoping a lot, that there will be at least some snowflakes at my parents home. nothing is better then christmas with snow :)

Grittibänz, mit diesem Begriff kann wohl wirklich niemand aus Deutschland etwas anfangen, außer er/sie war mal in der Schweiz zu Nikolaus. es handelt sich um einen Teigmann, also ein großer Keks :)
wir haben nun also in der WG einen Backwettbewerb vollzogen, mit Freunden natürlich und es wurde gekürt, wer die phantasievollste Figur formt ;) ich geb zu, mein Tannenbaum ist nicht besonders einfallsreich, aber Phantasie hatte ich halt noch nie viel! Jedenfalls war der Abend klasse und wir hatten ne Menge Spaß und dazu noch etwas leckeres zu essen :)

es war wieder soweit, der größte uniball europas (laut veranstalter) wurde zelebriert unter dem motto"winterwelt". die deko war gelungen (auch dank mithilfe meines Mitbewohners Roman, der fleißig dabei half), die musik war klasse, speisen und getränke auch (die bedienungen manchmal etwas langsam) aber die stimmung im ganzen fantastisch. nachdem ich mir 9 absagen eingefangen hatte, übernahm Anna zu meiner rettung die position meiner weiblichen begleitung und meisterte dies hervorragend :) danke Anna für den schönen abend und die nette begleitung.
die unterschiedliche musik, von swing, jazz, funk, irish pop bis letztlich klassik bot uns so reichlich anlass das tanzbein zu schwingen. ja, ich denke ich habe mich nicht allzu schlecht beim walzer angestellt, es gab zumindest keine klagen :) um 5.30 morgens war der abend dann schon wieder zu ende und mit einem frühstück im magen gingen wir um 7 kaputt ins bett. nach nur 5 stunden war ich allerdings schon wieder wach und mich ließ das gefühl nicht los, ich war der fitteste von uns dreien hier in der wg.
zum ersten advent heute habe ich natürlich standesgemäß die ersten räucherkerzen brennen lassen und so hält sie so langsam einzug die weihnachtszeit

here we go again, the biggest prom of europes universities (organizers saying) got celebrated with the slogan "winterworld". the decoration was really nice (also because of my roommate Roman, who helped making it), the music was great, also food and drinks (the service a bit slow sometimes) but the atmosphere at all fantastic. after 9 refusals, Anna took the hard part to be in my company and did a good "job" :) thanks for the nice evening Anna.
the different music genres, swing, jazz, funk, irish pop up to classic gave a lot reasons for dancing. yes, i think i did the waltz quite good :) at 5.30AM the party was over and with a breakfast we went to sleep at 7AM. after 5 houres sleeping i was awake again and untill now i´ve the feeling, i´m the fittest of us three here in the flat.
for the first sunday in advent today i was burning the first incense cones, and so christmas time is coming faster and faster

letztes Wochenende war ich mal wieder in der Heimat, da mein Vater Geburtstag hatte. im kleinen Familienkreis gab's dann wieder leckeren Kuchen, den ich hier doch sehr vermisse! ich war auch im Kino mit meinem Bruder zu "Ein Quantum Trost" und muss sagen, dass ich auch die Leute verstehen kann, die ein bisschen enttäuscht waren. Letztlich muss ich jedoch sagen, war er für mich ein guter Übergang zwischen dem letzten (eher brutalen Bond) und den alten, bei denen viel Wert auf Szenenbilder gelegt wurde. Was auch mir leider total gefehlt hat, waren technisches Spielereien, die es in der realen Welt einfach nicht zu kaufen gibt. ;)

und ich war auch Freunde besuchen und ab seit Ewigkeiten mal wieder Super Mario Cart gespielt, mit Lenkrad auf der Wii, sehr geil muss ich sagen.

und nun ist wieder eine Arbeitswoche rum, meine Patentochter hat morgen Geburtstag und wird 2 Jahre alt :)

last weekend i went to my parents home, because it was my fathers birthday. we celebrated in the family and had fantastic cake, that i miss a lot here! i also went to cinema with my brother to watch "Quantum Of Solace" and i've to say that i can also understand some people, that are a bit disappointed. for me it was a good solution between the last (more brutal Bond) and the old movies with the bigger value of szenes. but what i missed also a lot, where the gadgets, you can't buy in the real world. ;)

and i met also friends and played Super Mario Cart on the Wii with a steering wheel, and it was really cool.

and now a working week is over again and tomorrow is the 2nd birthday of my godchild :)

10cm Neuschnee :) es ist herrlich, wenn man nicht auf den öffentlichen verkehr angewiesen wäre und die Leute in den Autos ihre Reifen rechtzeitig gewechselt hätten. Bei letzterem ist zu sagen, dass wir heute Morgen von der Polizei geweckt wurden, da jemand in das parkende Auto meiner Mitbewohner gerutscht war ;)

10cm new snow :) it's fantastic, if you don't need public transportation to go to work and if everybody using a car changed the tires at the right time. to the last point is to say, that we woke up today morning by police, telling us, that somebody crashed in the car of my roommates, that was parked on the street ;)

don't worry, that is my car, and it is fine untill now ;)

es ist soweit, die ersten Flocken fallen und zwar richtig dicke Flocken. da bin ich ja froh, dass ich mein Motorrad noch am Montag in den "Winterschlaf" geschickt hab. nun bin ich also wieder ÖPNV-nutzer und drängel mich allmorgentlich in den Bus zur Arbeit ;) der Alltag hat mich also wieder und ich sitze ander Auswertung der Messdaten aus Rom. dies wird mich wohl bis Weihnachten beschäftigen, dabei hab ich richtig Lust endlich weider zu forschen, naja, kommt Zeit kommt Rat

and here it comes again, snow is back. so i'm happy that i took my motobike to "sleep" for the winter on monday. so i've to use bus and tram again with all the other people every morning and evening to go to work and home again ;) workaday life is back and i'm trying to process the measurements from Rome. looks like i'll do untill christmas but i would love to do some research again, anyway time will tell

so, da hab ich mich lang versteckt vor der Aussenwelt. zumindest was die Kommunikation per Internet angeht. in den letzten 3 Wochen hatte ich zwar ab und zu die Möglichkeit online zu gehen, die zeit war aber jeweils so beschränkt, dass nicht mal Email-lesen möglich war.
ich war für nen Kurztrip in Köln. war sehr schön, bis auf den Abend, an dem mir eine Kellnerin heissen Kaffee über den Schoß goß. ich erlaube mir hier zu erwähnen, dass ich auf dieses Erlebnis gern verzichtet hätte und es auch nicht wieder erleben möchte. es ist noch alles dran, aber heiss war der Kaffee, das wußte ich danach! ;)

danach ging´s nach Sri Lanka für eine Woche um eine Freundin nach langer Zeit wiederzusehen. ich hab die Zeit dort sehr genossen, kein Problem wenn man mit Menschen zusammen ist, die sich um einen kümmern. in vielen Sachen gleicht Sri Lanka Brasilien ungemein. natürlich gibt es Unterschiede ;) erlebt hab ich dort einiges, aber ich denk die Bilder sagen mehr als ich hier schreiben könnte :) danke Nimali für die tolle Zeit

in den letzten 10 Tagen war ich erneut in Rom mit Studenten zum Arbeiten. das Wetter war fantastisch! es war so warm, oder besser gesagt richtig heiß für Oktober. wir waren zu sechst und hatte eine super Zeit. natürlich kam der Spaß während der Arbeit nicht zu kurz und auch Freizeit war vorhanden (Baden im Mittelmeer) selbstverständlich war der fast tägliche Besuch in der "besten Eisdiele" der Welt unabdingbar und ich hätte mich in die Kübel reinlegen können und bis auf den letzten Rest auslecken. Ich denk man merkt hier, dass ich Eis über alles liebe :D

wer mehr erfahren möchte soll bitte fragen, da ich hier sonst endlos schreiben würde ;)

so, hide myself for a long time. or better to say i was away from communication by internet. during the last 3 weeks i had the possibilty to use the internet for some moments but mostly not enough time to check my mails.
i went to collogne for a quick weekend trip. was nice untill the moment when a waitress throw hot coffe over my legs. i think i can say that i prefered not to be in that situation and i really don´t want to be again. everything is still ok, but let me say: the coffe was hot ;)

after that i went to Sri Lanka to met a really good friend again after a long time. i enjoyed that time a lot. no problem if there are people carrying about you a lot. Sri Lanka is really similar to Brasil i would say but of course there are differences ;) but i think the pictures will show you much more as i could tell you :) thanks a lot Nimali for the very good time

in the last 10 days i was working in Rome again with some students. the weather was fantastic! it was so warm, or lets better say really hot for october! we were 6 and had a really good time. of course with some fun and free time to use (went to the beach) and of course almost every day to the "best gelateria" on earth. i could lay in the boxes and lick them completely clean. i think now you realize how much i love ice cream :D

mein bruder hat es nach 1,5 jahren wirklich geschafft mich in zürich zu besuchen :) es grenzt fast an ein wunder *hahaha* wie dem auch sei, es war ne schöne woche, auch wenn ich arbeiten mußte. aber um sich die zeit zu vertrösten hat er ja seine freundin mitgebracht gehabt ;)
wir sind also ne weile durch zürich geschlendert, waren am rheinfall und zum abschluß gab es fondue (auch wenn die beiden schlapp gemacht haben) ;) aber es war trotzdem sehr lecker.
Danke Martin, dass du hier warst und bis bald :)

my brother came to zurich after 1,5 years to visit me :) it´s like a wonder *hahaha* anyway it was a really nice week even if i had to work. but for "surviving" that time he brought his girlfriend with him ;) so we walked through zurich, went to the rheinfall and had Fondue for the last dinner (even if both gave up early) ;) but it was really good.

ich bin zurück aus diesen beiden Städten und ebenfalls von meiner Konferenz (Baltic-Swiss-Geodetic-Science-Week). es war sehr schön, allerdings auch schon recht kalt. meist unter 12°C und nachts sogar zwischen 0 und -3°C. meine Präsentation hat gut geklappt und an den freien Abenden, die uns blieben, sind wir durch die Altstädte gezogen, auf der suche nach schönen Restaurants oder generellen eindrücken.
Tallinn wirkt dabei mit seiner Altstadt wirklich noch wie aus der Zeit der Hanse, nur die Nobelkarossen stören dabei ;) rund herum sieht man doch noch stark den Einfluss des Sozialismus mit seinen tollen Plattenbauten. in der Altstadt allerdings gibt es ein fantastisches mittelalterliches Restaurant "Olde Hansa" nicht nur die Kleidung der Bedienungen dort ist mittelalterlich. es gibt kein elektrisches licht, keine neuzeitlichen Getränke, keine Kartoffeln oder andere Zutaten, die es im Mittelalter noch nicht gab. so sind also alle Rezepturen an die mittelalterliche Küche angepasst ich hab versucht ein paar Bilder zu machen, und es festzuhalten, aber seht selbst ;)
Riga ist ganz anders, der Jugendstil prägt die Altstadt, auch wenn es dort ebenfalls ein Mittelalterrestaurant gibt, wir es jedoch nicht besucht haben. letztlich blieb für Riga auch nur Samstagabend und der Sonntag bis 16Uhr bevor wir uns mit dem Flieger auf den Heimweg machten.
eine Sache allerdings hat mich in beiden Ländern verfolgt und mir gezeigt, warum deutsche Urlauber so unbeliebt sind. sie können wirklich nur meckern, nörgeln, motzen. es ist unglaublich, ich möchte manchmal meine Muttersprache nicht sprechen oder besser verstehen können. junge besoffene sind ja schon schlimm, aber manche Rentnergruppen sind wirklich der Gipfel hier meine bitte an alle deutsch sprechenden Ausländer, wir sind nicht wirklich alle so. wenn Leute nichts zu erzählen haben, dann bleiben halt nur die "negativen" Sachen des Urlaubs zu erwähnen, so scheint es zumindest. ich bedaure das jedenfalls sehr!!

i´m back from both towns and also from the conference (baltic-swiss-geodetic-science-week). was really nice but also really cold. mostly under 12°C, rainy and in the night between 0 and -3°C. my presentation was ok and in the evenings when we had free time, we walked through the old towns. Searching for some nice restaurants or getting just in touch with the city.
Tallinn downtown has still the impression of a really old town from Hanseatic League, only the luxury cars don´t fit ;) but around that you can still see the big influence of the socialism with his Plattenbau. Downtown is also a really fantastic restaurant from middle age „Olde Hansa“. No patotoes, no nowadays drinks, clothes of the service is from middle age and no electrical light everywhere. It is really cool and also all dishes were made like in the past. I made some pictures to show you.
Riga is totally different, Art Nouveau everywhere but also a middle age restaurent (we don´t tried). We only had saturday evening and sunday untill 4PM for that city befor we took the plane back to zurich.
Only one thing „followed“ me in both countries and showed me, why german tourist are so out-of-favour in the world. They can really only whinge, bellyache and grumble. it´s unbelievable and in those moments i don´t want to speak or better understand my native language. Young drunk people are bad, but groups of retired people are the „worst case“. For all foreigners speaking german, please, we´re not all like them. You know if people have nothing to talk about, they´ve only the „negative“ things in their vacations. that´s how it looks often and i´m really sorry for that!!

"Nicht mein Tag" so lautet der Titel des Buches, welches als einziges meinen kleinen Motorradunfall ohne Schaden überstanden hat. ok, ich und das Motorrad haben auch keine Kratzer abbekommen. Dafür hat es aber meine Tasche sehr stark erwischt und mein MacBook, welches darin war. Jedenfalls konnte die Festplatte noch gerettet werden und sie ist noch funktionsfähig und nun warte ich auf einen neuen Rechner. So ein Scheiss, ich könnte mir wirklich selbst in den Arsch treten.
Nach dem Zwischenfall ging's noch mal schnell zur Arbeit, Prüfungen kontrollieren und dann ins Flugzeug ab nach Hause, Mamas Geburtstag nachfeiern. Und nun bin ich wieder in Zürich und muss meinen Vortrag vorbereiten. Halten werde ich ihn dnan in Tallin vom 9.9.-12.9.

"Not My Day" that's the titel of the book that survived my little accident by bike without any damage. ok, the bike and me also had no damage. But ;) the bag i took with me got totally damaged and also my MacBook inside. the good thing the hard disk is still working and we were able to take it off. now i've to wait for a new notebook and holy shit i could kick my own ass.
anyway, after that incident i went to work, correcting some exams of our students and after that i took the plain to my parents home, celebrating my mothers birthday. and now i'm back in zürich and have to prepare my presentation for Tallin. will be there in Estonia from 9.9-12.9.

ich war auf einem Wochenendtrip zu besuch von Gordana in Belgrad/Beograd und hatte ein paar richtig tolle tage. es ähnelt Vilnius doch sehr in einigen punkten. von der zerstörung durch den krieg habe ich nichts mehr gesehen, aber dafür überwiegt der sozialistische baustil doch noch sehr in einigen teilen der stadt. mein hotel war richtig cool und ich habe in einem restaurant fantastischen fisch gegessen

i went for a weekend trip to visit Gordana in Belgrade/Beograd and had some really nice days. it looks similar to Vilnius in some points. i didn't see any destroying from the war anymore but the building stile from socialism is still present in some parts of the city. my hotel was really cool and i had delicious fish in a restaurant

am 1. August war es wieder so weit, die Schweizer feierten ihren Nationalfeiertag, auch wenn das Wetter alles andere als feierlich war. es goss teilweise wie aus Eimern und an Grillen und am See sitzen war in diesem Jahr nicht zu denken.

während einer Gewitterpause wagten wir es dann aber doch zu einem Motorradtrip nach Schaffhausen zum Rheinfall. es lief auch alles super, bis zur Rückfahrt, da kamen wir natürlich wieder in richtig schweren Regen (wie denn sonst) ;)

die folgenden Tage boten richtig tolles Wetter, so dass ein Trip nach Zermatt mit wunderbarer Sicht aufs Matterhorn möglich war.

wenn ich von wir spreche, dann mein ich Marilyn, eine Freundin aus Singapur, die in diesem Monat wieder zurückgeht und dann in Dubai anfängt zu arbeiten, und mich. und da sie auch noch nie in Zermatt war, machten wir diesen Trip zusammen

again there was the 1st of august, and all swiss celebrated their national day, even if the weather was everything else than good for a celebration. it was raining a lot and barbecue at the lake wasn't possible.

during a rain break we decided to go to Schaffhausen and see the Rheinfall (hugest waterfall in europe) and everything was nice untill the way back on my back, starts raining again and we got very wet ;)

the following days have been wonderful and so we made another trip to Zermatt with perfect view to the Matterhorn (famous mountain)

when i say we, i mean Marilyn, a really good friend from Singapore who will leave switzerland again to work in Dubai, and me. we both haven't seen the Matterhorn before and so we decided to go there together.

lang ist's her, aber da bin ich wieder :)

hmm, was ist passiert in den vergangenen tagen (oder sind's schon wochen) ich war in frankfurt/main und hatte dort ein schönes wochenende bei strahlendem sonnenschein :)

ich hab an der zürcher seeüberquerung teilgenommen, weil mich meine mitbewohnerin überredet hat, ergo bin ich 1.45 km am stück geschwommen und das gleich beim ersten mal baden dieses jahr im see überhaupt. ich hab überlebt, auch wenn ich krämpfe in füssen und beinen beim schwimmen und erst recht danach hatte.

ansonten war die letzte woche eigentlich eine ganz normale, das wetter war noch einigermassen ok und ich hab den üblichen kram gemacht ;)

heute war nicht wirklich der beste tag für mich, aber auch den habe ich überstanden.

also euch allen alles gute und bis zum nächsten mal, dann sicher auch mal wieder mit bildern

hmm, so what happend during the last days (or should i say weeks) i went to frankfurt/main (the one with the airport) and had a nice weekend there with sunshine :)

i took part on a swimming event across the zurich lake because my roommate got me too and so i swam 1.45 km on the first time i entered the lake this year *lol* of course you all can imagine that i became a lot of pain in my feet and legs during and especially after swimming as i tried to leave the water. i couldn't move only 10 m *hihi*

hmm the last week was just a normal one like most of the others, nothing special happend and i did the normal stuff ;)

today wasn't the best day for me but i also survived.

so to everybody of you all the best and write to you next time, maybe with pictures again

ich bin mal wieder zu hause, auch wenn nur für das wochenende, da ich morgen wieder arbeiten muss. also geht's morgen früh auch wieder zurück und dann direkt vom flughafen zur ETH von dienstag bis donnerstag richten wir dann eine konferenz aus, von daher herrscht volles programm. heute jedenfalls hab ich den pool noch mal genutzt und natürlich ein paar bilder gemacht, da das wetter hier ja traumhaft war

i'm at home again, only for the weekend because i've to work tomorrow again. so i'll go back to zurich and directly from the airport to ETH. from tuesday to thursday we'll have a conference there, so a lot of things to do. today i used our pool here and made some pictures because the weather was fantastic

ich bin zurück aus einer woche feldkurs mit knapp 180 studenten und 19 kollegen :)

pünktlich zur EM *yipppiiiieee*

wettermässig gab's mal wieder nichts zu lachen, typisches Jurawetter könnte man sagen, aber ich hab das Jura dieses jahr auch schon mit wunderschönem sonnenschein erlebt. der regen scheint trotzdem bestandteil des jährlichen feldkurses zu sein, erinnere ich mich an letztes jahr ;)

wie immer ging die zeit trotzdem wieder recht schnell um und spass hat es auch gemacht (ist man regenfest gekleidet)

zu all meinem glück kann ich noch sagen, dass ich 4 vierblättrige und 1 fünfblättriges kleeblatt gefunden hab. wer mir nicht glaubt, muss sich halt nachher die bilder ansehen ;) und ich war nicht der einzige! wir waren also auf einer "genmutierten" wiese in der schweiz *hihi*

ich hoffe das wetter wird nun endlich mal auch hier schön, vergleiche ich mit der alten heimat ;)

denn jetzt wo der fussball auch in der schweiz regiert sollte die sonne endlich mal wieder scheinen, ausserdem macht motorradfahren dann viel mehr spass :D

also: "Auf geht's, Deutschland schiesst ein Tor!!" der weg zum europameister begann ja mit nem sieg ;)

i'm back from one week project course with near 180 students and 19 team members in french part of switzerland. on time to european championship in soccer *yippiiiiieeee*

the weather wasn't the best again, typical for Jura some would say, but i know the Jura also with sunshine from a month ago. but the rain seems to be a part of the project course, if i remember the last year too ;)

as usal the time goes by very fast and we had fun (with the right clothes) and it seems i'm a lucky guy *hehe* i found 4 four-leaf clovers and 1 with five-leafes. who don't believe has to watch the pictures ;) and it wasn't only me! so we did the course on a "gen-manipulated" field in switzerland *hahaha*

i hope the weather will become better now if i compare to my "old" home in germany ;) and now, where the soccer also rules switzerland the sun has to shine again finally and also riding my bike makes much more fun in sunshine :D

so: "come on germany, make some goals" the way to european champion starts with a victory yesterday ;)

of course we had a party too

and the next day was the lucky day ;)

ja es war wieder so weit, die SOLA-staffel fand erneut statt. und ja, ich bin auch diesmal mitgelaufen und seh auf dem bild nicht ganz so schlimm aus wie im letzten jahr *hihi*
aber was soll ich sagen, auf meinen 4.9km bin ich mit 24:35 minuten auf rang 405 gelandet von mehr als 800 teams und bin damit zufrieden :) und das team ist insgesamt auf rang 234 gelaufen!!!

yes, it was SOLA again, and also yes i took part again too. i think i don't look so "dead" on the picture like last year *hihi*
but what should i say, i needed 24:35 minutes for 4.9km and got position 405 of more than 800 runners :) my team got position 234 at all and that was really good :)

ich weiss nicht wer es schon gesehen oder getrunken hat, aber ich habe mich dem experiment anvertraut. seitdem CocaCola das stillschweigende abkommen mit RedBull gebrochen hat, haben alle ja eigentlich darauf gewartet. ich hab sie nun gestern zum ersten mal gekostet, die Cola von RedBull. wer vertraut ist mit dem geschmack der Haribo Cola-gummi-"tiere" weiss auch, wie die cola von RedBull schmeckt, wirklich identisch nur in flüssiger form. CocaCola muss sich meines erachtens also überhaupt keine sorgen machen ;) auch die farbe wirkt eher etwas rötlich aber sehr selbst auf dme bild und vielleicht kostet ihr sie auch mal :)

i don't know how saw or tried, but i did this experiment. since Coca Cola broke the ""silent contract" with RedBull everybody was waiting. so i tried it yesterday the first time. everybody who knows the Haribo-coke-"gums" knows also how RedBull coke tastes ;) so in my opinio CocaCola don't need to worry also the colour is a bit different and seems a bit red.

tach auch,
ich bin zur zeit immer ab dienstagabend im Jura (französische Schweiz) und arbeite dort mit meinen Kollegen im Mt. Terri (300m unter der Erde) im moment haben wir dort eine wirklich wunderschöne ferienwohnung und die landschaft ist traumhaft bei schönem wetter :)
und daher gibt's hier ein paar bilder und demnächst wieder neues von mir an dieser stelle

ich war am letzten Donnerstag auf meinem ersten Heavy-Metal-Konzert und ich muss sagen, es war gar nicht mal so schlecht ;) die zwei Bands die spielten waren Gammaray und Helloween, beides deutsche Bands. sicherlich, es war schon etwas speziell aber da ich offen bin für alles hab ich mir halt gesagt, gehst du mal hin :)

am samstag war dann noch ne grosse geburtstagsfeier von Larissa mit nem ganz schön grossen frauenüberschuss, was die party natürlich nicht negativ beeinflusst hat ;)

last thursday i went to my first Heavy-Metal-concert and i've to say, wasn't so bad ;) the two bands Gammaray and Helloween came from germany. sure, a little bit special but i'm open for everything new and so i went there :)

on saturday was a big birthday party of Larissa with much more women than men but anyway it wasn't bad for the party :D

ich war in Strasbourg, auf der Konferenz, zwar nur als hörer aber immerhin. war recht interessant und Strasbourg ist wirklich eine schöne kleine Stadt nur das wetter war mal wieder nicht das beste. dafür stimmte das hotelzimmer, schönes grosses bett und sogar ne badewanne im bad ;) ok, die fenster waren nicht wirklich schallisolierend, aber egal.
heute wieder hier zurück, geht's gleich daran belege zu kontrollieren und nach knapp 100 von 200 hab ich keinen bock mehr *hahaha*
also schaut euch liebe die bilder an ;)

i went to Strasbourg/France to a conference. no, not for presentation this time but it was really nice and Strasbourg is a very beautiful town. only the weather wasn't the best but therefor the hotel room was quit good :) a big bed and a bath tube ;)
today first day back starts with controlling test of the students, and i don't want anymore after 100 of 200 *hahaha*
so much better to watch the pictures ;)

tach zusammen, ich war am letzten wochenende mit einem studenten zusammen in Innsbruck auf einem workshop zur lawinenforschung. war doch recht interessant und innsbruck an sich ist auch eine schöne stadt. nur der fluglärm ist wirklich fast unerträglich und verdammt, es gibt keine wlan-hotspots. fantastisch ist natürlich, dass man innerhalb von 20 minuten richtig in den bergen ist.
die zugfahrt nach und von Innsbruck wird dann aber doch irgendwann langweilig und man nickt immer wieder mal weg und so übersteht man doch irgendwie die 4 stunden ;)
jetzt bin ich die woche erst mal in zürich bevor es dann nach strasbourg zur konferenz geht.
im anschluß gibt´s dann noch ein paar bilder

hello everybody, last weekend i went to Innsbruck with a student to a workshop about avalanches and their research. was really interesting and it is a nice town. only the noise by the plains is disturbing and why are there no wlan-hotspots??? really fantastic s, that you can be at the top of the mountains in 20 minutes.
the trip by train to and from Innsbruck is getting boring during the time and so you fell into sleep to "survive" the 4 houres ;)
now i´ll be in zurich for this week before i go to strasbourg/france next monday to a conference.

Pontresina 2008 - 60th birthday of my boss

ich war am freitag und samstag mit meinen kollegen in Pontresina, ungefähr 10 km entfernt von St. Moritz in den alpen. wir hatten am freitag wirklich geniales wetter, welches dann auch super zur ausfahrt mit der kutsche einlud. nach einer kleinen wanderung und der rückfahrt zum hotel, genossen wir schwimmbad und spa bereich, bevor es dann zu einem wirklich sehr guten abendessen ging. der abend mit geschenkübergabe, kleinem rückblick auf die studentenzeit bis jetzt und gesprächen über allerlei sachen, zog sich dann bis 3 uhr morgens. um halb neun gab es samstag dann schon wieder frühstück und anschließend eine busfahrt bis nach Sils. von dort aus gings am see im schnee zu fuß zurück nach Silvaplana. (auf dem weg hab ich meine sonnenbrille verloren) wieder zurück in pontresina reichte die zeit noch für einen kaffee bevor wir uns auf den rückweg nach zürich machten.
es war ein richtig tolles wochenende :)

i went on friday and saturday with my colleagues to Pontresina, round about 10 km away from St. Moritz in the alps. the weather at friday was perfect and so the trip with the horse-drawn carriage was wonderful in the snow. after a little walk and the way back to the hotel, we went into the pool and spa of the hotel. followed by a really nice dinner, some gifts for my boss and a review of his time at university we talked and had wine till 3 AM. at 8.30 there was breakfast and than we went to Sils where we had a wonderful walk at the lake in the snow back to Silvaplana. (i lost my sunglasses there) back in pontresina we had time for a coffee befor we took the train back to zurich

ein wunderschöner tag im februar, aber auch viel zu warm. jedenfalls hab ich den tag mit meinen mitbewohnern mit einem Anannas-Caipirinha begonnen. ja, richtig gelesen. und zwar direkt aus der ananas und es war sehr sehr lecker.
dann haben wir die sonne genossen und den tag mit wurst und fleischspießen vom grill beendet. also ein perfekter tag im februar, alkoholfrühstück und grillen zum tagesausklang ;)

a perfect day in february, but also much to warm (15°C). anyway i started the day with my roommates and a pineapple-caipirinhal. yes, you read right. and it was directly made in the pineapple and delicious.
than we enjoed the perfect sunshine and finished our sunday with a barbecue in february sitting outside at the balcony. so perfect day with alcohol for breakfast and barbecue to finish that day in february ;)

ich bin zurück von meinen 3 1/2 Wochen Brasilien und hatte heute gleich wieder meinen ersten Arbeitstag mit nem sehr vollen Schreibtisch! es sammelt sich halt ganz schön was an in der zeit ;)
aber zum Urlaub: es war wirklich sehr schön, leider wollte das Wetter nicht wirklich sommerlich werden für Brasilien. wenn ich definitiv zusammenrechnen soll, hatte ich vielleicht 7 tage mit richtigem Sonnenschein, der Rest war vom regen durchzogen, leider.
Land und Leute haben mir jedoch sehr gut gefallen, und auch die Freunde die ich wieder getroffen hab haben dafür gesorgt, dass mein Urlaub sehr schön war. daher an dieser stelle danke und alles liebe an Gustavo, Larissa und Leonardo für die schöne Zeit und die Gastfreundschaft.

i´m back from my 3 1/2 weeks vacations in Brasil and had today my first day of work with a lot of work ;)
ok, but to my vacations: it was really nice, only the weather doesn´t made it perfect. i think i had definitely 7 days with perfect sunshine the rest was mostly clowdy and rainy.
anyway country and people were always really nice and the friends i met again gave me a wonderful time. so thanks for let me staying at your homes to Gustavo, Larissa & Leonardo.

ja, dies wird wohl mein letzter eintrag sein, bevor ich am freitag in den urlaub fliege. wie oft und ob ich dann in brasilien hier einen eintrag machen werde weiß ich noch nicht, aber ihr werdet es ja sehen. ich war am donnerstag abend mit christin in bamberg auf dem BASTA konzert und es war wirklich wieder sehr schön. super stimmung und ein begeistertes publikum. freitag bin ich dann direkt nach hannover zum geburtstag von meinem kumpel micha. eine lange party, mit viel alkohol. und genau das, kann man wohl am besten auf diesem bild von michas rücken sehr gut erkennen. "wer abkackt wird angemalt" heißt es ja bekanntlich. jedenfalls bin ich nach einem tollen wochenende nun wieder in zürich angekommen, nachdem ich vorher andréa noch in heidelberg abgesetzt habe, und dort in der altstadt mit ihr und ihren freunden noch nen kaffee getrunken hab. die rückfahrt hat mein auto wohl nicht wirklich gut überstanden, irgendetwas ist hinten abgerissen und morgen schaff ich´s einfach mal zur werkstatt und lass mir mal sagen, was es kosten würde ;)

so, i think this will be my last post before i´ll go to holidays on friday. i don´t know if and how often i can write from brasil, but you´ll see :) went with christin to BASTA concert on thursday in bamberg and we had a really nice evening with a very good and funny concert. friday i went directly to hannover, where i was invited to the birthday arty of my friend micha. was a long party with a lot of alcohol. you can see the result at the picture where you can see michas back ;) (he felt into sleep at his party to early) anyway i arrived in zurich after a very nice weekend and a short stop in heidelberg where andréa left my car. met her on saturday before and took her from hannover to her friends. and i think my car got a new damage by the trip. there´s a part at the back doing things it shouldn´t do. i´ll bring to garage tomorrow and will see how much it will be if they repair it ;)

nun ist es also so weit, wir haben 2008. in diesem jahr werde ich nicht nur meinen 27. geburtstag feiern, sondern auch mein einjähriges "dienstjubiläum" an der ETH in zürich. dieses allerdings in brasilien in meinem urlaub auf den ich mich jetzt schon wahnsinnig freue. los geht´s schon diesen monat, und zwar am 18ten, bis dahin fällt mir hier aber sicher noch etwas ein, was ich euch schrieben kann, auch wenn ihr es vielleicht gar nicht wissen wollt *hehe*

so, now we have 2008. it´s not only my 27th birthday in this year, no i´ll also celebrate my first and welcome my second year at ETH zurich. i´ll do both not in zurich, no, i´ll do in brasil in my holidays. and i´m really excited to do and it will be not far away, because i´ll start to brasil at the 18th of january and i think i´ll write some more things till this day, even if you don´t want to know *hehe*

ich weiss, ich weiss...
diesmal gab's hier wieder eine lange pause. dafür gibt's im anschluss ein ganz paar bilder von ein, zwei weihnachtsessen ;)
vorher darf ich aber noch kurz berichten, dass ich mit axel auf dem Ärzte Konzert in zürich war. wie immer richtig geile stimmung, aber der sound im Hallenstadion in zürich lies leider zu wünschen übrig. vielleicht lag die schlechte akkustik nicht nur an der bauart sondern auch an der dezibelbegrenzung. und diese ist natürlich der killer für ein rockkonzert. wie dem auch sei, wir hatten unsern spass!

nun aber zu den leckeren schlemmereien schon vor weihnachten. zum einen ein gemütlicher und schöner abend mit meinen freunden in zürich. gab sogar kleine geschenke (für mich nen kreisel *hihi*) leckeres geflügel, rotkohl und klösse wurden im hauptgang serviert und ein wirklich leckeres tiramisu als dessert gereicht.
die zweite feier fand dann gestern abend mit dem institut statt. kleines nettes restaurant in der nähe der uni, feiner gulasch und apfelstrudel mit zimteis zum dessert. :)

freitag geht's dann bei mir in den weihnachtsuralub nach hause, wo ich dann auch ins neue jahr rutschen werde.
daher euch allen Fröhliche Weihnachten!!

i know, i know ...
again a long break and i'm sorry for that. but i hope i can make you happy again by showing some pictures of one, two (before) christmas dinners ;)
at first i like to tell you, that Axel and i went to concert of Die Ärzte (very famous german band) here in zurich. a perfect concert but the sound wasn't the best one. maybe it's because of the stadium and also because of the limitation of the sound volume, that's a killer for a rock concert. anyway we had fun!

but now let me tell about the perfect dinners i had. the first one with my friends here in zurich. where i received a little gift as well :) (a little spinner) the dinner was very delicious and there was a perfect tiramisu for dessert.
the second dinner was with my complete institut in a nice smal restaurant i nthe near of the university. also very delicious and cinnamono ice cream for dessert ;)

friday i'll go home to my parents for my christmas holidays, and i'll be there too for New Year party with my "old" friends from school time

ja, der titel klingt vielleicht etwas komisch, er entspricht aber 100%ig der wahrheit. seit nun knapp einer woche genieße ich DEN PERFEKTEN KLANG. wie das geht und warum? ich habe eine kleine anschaffung getätigt und war bei B&O im laden einkaufen. DER PERFEKTE KLANG wird mir von meinen neuen BeoLab 4 direkt auf die ohren geliefert. im moment passen sie sich noch sehr dezent in mein zimmer ein, das liegt aber in erster hinsicht daran, dass leider die blauen abdeckungen immer noch fehlen (ich hoffe sie kommen morgen), denn dann kommt zu den fantastischen klang auch noch ein tolles äußeres auftreten hinzu.
wer also musik wirklich mal richtig hören will, dem sei eine investition in gute boxen wirklich ans herz gelegt. und wer mal probehören mag, der darf gern zum nächsten B&O seines vertrauens gehen, oder aber mal bei mir ganz lieb anfragen ;)

und jetzt ein paar bilder

right, the title sounds a bit strange, but it´s 100% true. since near one week i enjoy THE PERFECT SOUND in my room. how and why? i went to B&O and orderd it. THE PERFECT SOUND is giving directly to my ears by my new BeoLab 4. at the moment they´re very inconsiderable at my desk because the blue covers are still missing (i hope they´ll arrive tomorrow) and than there´ll be fantastic sound and also beautiful appearance.
so who ever wants to listen to music in the right way, please invest some money in your speakers. and if you want to listen to the sound go to the next B&O in your near or ask me in a nice way ;)

wie ihr vielleicht lest, ist dies der 100ste Blogeintrag meinerseits ;)
um dies gebührend zu feiern war ich mit meinem ehemaligen Kommilitonen, sowie "meinem Mitbewohneranhang" auf dem Polyball. dem wohl größten Ball europas. neben etlichen unterschiedlichen musikrichtungen, cabaret, kino und kurztanzkursen wurden die wohl knapp 6000 partysüchtigen (in abendgarderobe) auch mit allerlei köstlichkeiten der nahrungskette versorgt.
ok, den salsa so wie sie meine mitbewohnerin mit ihrem freund aufs parkett legt konnte ich nun wahrlich nicht folgen, aber ich gab mir größte mühe, auch meiner tanzpartnerin (öfters mal wechselnd) einen angenehmen abend zu bereiten :) um die begleitungen von robert und mir, hat sich meine mitbewohnerin mit bravur gekümmert ;)
alles in allem hatten wir einen schönen abend, den wir kurz vor 4 uhr morgens dann beendeten und uns auf den heimweg machten

as you can see, this is post nr. 100 in my blog. and that should be celebrated :)
this weekend i got visited by my friend Robert from former study times in Dresden/Germany. and together we went with my roomate Dani, her bf and friends and her brother with gf to the called greatest prom of europe at zurich university.
near 13 different music styles in hugh rooms, cinema, cabaret and a short dancing coursehelped the near 6000 people to have a lot of fun. many different bars a lot of food (sushi, mexican, ...) also exist at this very nice evening.
ok, i can´t dance Salsa like my roommate did with her bf but i tried also to make it a nice evening for the dancing partners my roommate organized for Robert and me :)
so at all it was a really nice evening and weekend i had with Robert here in Zurich and i really hope he´ll come back once to enjoy again

snow is back

so, Väterchen Frost ist zurück und hat den ersten schnee, der in zürich liegen bleibt, mitgebracht. am wochenende wird die skisaison eröffnet und ich habe mir den morgigen freitg ausgesucht, um mit meinem auto nach deutschland zu fahren, um meine winterreifen zu holen. ja, ihr habt richtig verstanden, ich fahre morgen mit sommerreifen knapp 1000 km und hoffe, dass alles gut geht ;)
gestern war ich jedenfalls zum ersten mal schlittschuh laufen in diesem winter und es war gut mal wieder auf den kufen zu stehen.

the winter is back and brought the first snow that stays in zurich. the new ski season starts at the weekend and i'll go home to germany tomorrow morning with my car to take my winter tires there. yes, you understood right, i'll drive near 1000 km with summer tires and i hope everything will be fine ;)
yesterday i went to ice skating first time in that winter and it was nive to feel the skates

gestern war dann einer dieser schlechten tage, auf die ich gern verzichtet hätte. ich musste zum zahnarzt da mir vorgestern beim abendbrot plötzlich etwas spanisch vorkam beim kauen. ich konte nach dem essen, meinen zahn von der füllung wegdrücken.
gestern sass ich dann von 8.25 Uhr bis 14 Uhr in der Uniklinik in Zürich. der grossteil war wartezeit aber ich hab auch ganze 2 Stunden auf dem zahnarztstuhl verbracht, da sich das ziehen des besagten zahnes doch schwieriger gestaltete als erwartet.
Murphys Gesetz mal wieder, was schief gehen kann geht auch schief. und so brach der zahn bei jedem weiteren versuch ihn rauszubekommen und letztlich kam es mal wieder bei mir zum härtefall mit rausfräsen aus dem kiefer.
die überreste sind auf dem foto festgehalten, das teil rechts oben ist jenes, welches ich nach dem essen bewegen konnte (wer sich ekelt sollte es nicht anschauen)

yesterday i had one of these bad days i don't need so often. i went to the dentist because the night before a tooth of mine brokes during dinner and i could move him with my finger.
so iwent yesterday to university hospital from 8.25 AM to 2 PM most time of that i was waiting but than i sit 2 houres at the chair because it wasn't that easy to got the tooth out of my mouth.
Murphy's Law in his best way. everytime they tried to get him out my tooth brokes and so they had to cut and mill him out of my jaw.

ich weiss, wieder mal ist eine längere Zeit vergangen, aber dafür ja jetzt ein paar Infos ;)
gestern (13.10.2007) wurde ich Taufpate bei der kleinen Tochter meines Freundes Stefan und seiner Freundin Anne. die kleine Maus (sheila yasmin) war wirklich eine wunderschön und so brav den ganzen tag, dass man sie eigentlich gar nicht gespürt hat! nicht einen mucks hat sie von sich gegeben, während der taufe selbst und auch den rest des tages über. und natürlich gab es für sie eine ganze menge geschenke, an denen komischerweise die großeltern viel mehr beim auspacken interessiert waren als sheila oder ihre eltern ;)
morgen geht´s bei mir nach rom bis zum 24. oktober, daher kann ich auch noch keine bilder online stellen von der taufe, werde dieses aber nachholen, sobald mir welche vorliegen :)
und dann gibt´s von mir auch erst wieder etwas zu lesen, wenn ich zurück bin (sicher auch mit ein paar bildern aus rom)

i know again long time gone since i wrote here last time but now you´ll get some information.
yesterday (13.10.2007) there was the christening of the little daughter of my friend stefan and his girlfriend anne and i became godfather. the sweet girl (sheila yasmin) was so pretty and lovely all day long. she doesn´t cried during the christening and also not for the rest of the day. of course she got a lot of presents but it was weird, because the grandparents were more interested in opening the gifts as sheila or her parents were ;)
tomorrow i´ve to go to rome till the 24th of october so that´s why i can´t upload pictures now, but i´ll do as fast as i can :)
and so i´ll also write the next time here when i´m back from rome and i think than also with new pictures from there

so, trotzdem ich also in zürich bin, ist es nun schon eine ganze weile her, dass ich mich hier gemeldet habe. dem setze ich somit ein ende ;)
ich hab mittlerweile auf arbeit alles soweit vorbereitet, dass die erneute fahrt nach rom ohne probleme stattfinden sollte. mietwagen ist bestellt, Carnet für den zoll ist ausgefüllt und abgestempelt und natürlich sind auch die mitfahrenden studenten informiert.
mein kollege timo hat morgen seine Doktorprüfung und verlässt uns somit, seine wohnung haben wir letztes wochenende zusammengepackt und in nem kleintransporter verstaut. er hat also schon fast alles wieder in deutschland. ich wünsch dir jedenfalls alles erdenklich gute timo und hoffe stark auf ein wiedersehen, entweder hier in zürich, in hannover oder auf irgend einer konferenz ;)
ansonten war ich gestern abend mit christin, ronny und caro unterwegs im abart. gestern lief dort die musikrichtung Wave, für alle die wie ich immer nicht so ne vorstellung von so ner richtung haben, wir hatten sowohl depeche mode als auch marilyn manson und alles was so dazwischen passt :)

ok, long time gone since i wrote last time, i´m sorry but now you can read some news ;)
at work i prepared everything for the new trip to rome and i hope there won´t be any more problems. i rent a car, wrote the Carnet for custom and of course i informed the students.
my colleague timo will do his doctoral examination tomorrow and than he´ll leave us. last weekend i helped him to move his flat and we put all his stuff in a "truck" and so it´s all in germany again. anyway, i wish you all the best timo and i hope we´ll see again, maybe in zurich, in hannover or at any conference ;)
yesterday night i went out with christin, ronny and caro to abart club. it was nice, there were a lot of gothic people, some look really strange but the music was good (from depeche mode to marilyn manson) and so we had a great night :)

1 1/2 wochen war ich nun also unterwegs und hier habt ihr ein paar bilder von meinen reisen ;)
die "konferenz" in lithauen hat unserem team sehr gut gefallen und auch viel gebracht, da wir doch alle relativ neu sind und so zum ersten mal auch gesehen haben, was der andere eigentlich macht ;)
in rom konnte ich auch alles so weit klären, dass die messkampagne mit meinem Masterstudenten im oktober ohne probleme starten kann :)

so, die erste woche nach dem heimaturlaub ist rum und ebenfalls meine erste stunde portugiesisch am letzten donnerstag abend. der kurs findet nun wöchentlich statt und ich hoffe ich kann am ende zumindest so viel, dass ich mich nicht ganz hilflos in brasilien fühle, wenn ich meinen freund gustavo im januar/februar besuchen werde.
manch einer fragt sich sicherlich, warum ich um diese uhrzeit schon am blog sitz und das an einem montag, die begründung ist ganz einfach und relativ trivial :) ich hatte bis grad eben besuch aus berlin und mir somit frei genommen. nun ist cathi aber wieder am flughafen und ich kann hier schnell einige zeilen tippen, bevor ich wieder darauf hingewiesen werde (karen zuzwinker), dass mein blog überhaupt nicht aktuell ist ;)
und so schreib ich also mal wieder ein wenig hier rein. was ich gemacht hab wisst ihr ja nun und was noch kommt, lässt sich auch in einem satz erklären *hihi* am samstag fliegen meine kollegen und ich nach litauen zu einer konferenz für die ganze nächste woche und im anschluß geht´s dann gleich für 2 tage nach rom. dort muss ich ein paar vorbereitungen treffen für den oktober, wenn ich mit "meinem" master studenten dann für 10 tage dort hin reise um die messungen für seine arbeit zu betreuen. bilder gibt´s dann sicher genug :)

well, first week after my vacations is done and also my first portuguese course last thursday. i´ve this course every week and hopefully i know some portuguese when i visit my friends in brazil next january/february
today i took off at work because i got visited by cathi, a friend from berlin, since last thursday here in zurich :) but now she´s at the airport and i can write some things here.
next saturday i´ll go with my colleagues to lithuania to a conference there for a week and after coming back i´ll directly go to rome for some planings i´ve to do for a student who wants to write master thesis. later in octobre i´ll go again with him to rome for 10 days to make some measurements and i think than i´ll have some pictures for you all ;)
