my trip to Valdivia, Chile to check out my possible new job

Über Ostern war ich zum ersten Mal in Chile und habe mir Valdivia und das CECS angesehen. Dort könnte ich in der Gletscherforschung anfangen. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, es reizt mich sehr und ist super interessant. Hinzu kommt, dass die Landschaft einfach traumhaft ist und das Wetter sein bestes gab um mich zu überzeugen. Die Stadt hat ca. 150'000 Einwohner und erinnert sehr stark an Deutsche Einwanderer. Im Gegensatz zu Brasilien, Kolumbien und Perú verläuft der Verkehr nahezu traumhaft ruhig und erinnert ebenso an Mitteleuropa und Ordnung. Sogar Fussgänger haben Vorrang am Zebrastreifen. Es fällt mir definitiv nicht leicht, eine Entscheidung zu treffen, da die Entfernung doch sehr groß ist und ich meine Familie und Freunde sehr vermissen würde.

During Easter I've been the first time ever in Chile and checked out Valdivia ad the CECS. I could start working there in the glacier monitoring group. It sounds absolutely interesting and I'm interested. Furthermore the landscape is fantastic and the weather did its best to convince me even more. The city has around 150'000 inhabitants and has a strong German influence. Compared to Brazil, Colombia or Perú the traffic was really organized, like in middle Europe, even pedestrians "go first" on crossings. It's not easy at al to decide because the distance to home is huge and I would miss my family and friends a lot.
